Deactivating Snapping

The way in which components snap to one another is determined in advance on the basis of permitted combinations of components. For example, this means that it is not possible to bring out a new desk component and position it anywhere you want in relation to an existing desk component, unless snapping is deactivated.

Deactivating snapping involves temporarily changing the built-in rules. If snapping is deactivated, various combinations of components can be put together, which otherwise would not be allowed.

To deactivate snapping when you position a component on the drawing area, follow the instructions below:

  1. Select a component from one of the component tabs.

  2. Drag the component to the drawing area whilst holding down the Shift key.

  3. Now you can position the component where you want, without snapping it  to another component in the drawing area.

Example:

Two desk components are snapped together in the drawing area. You want to move one of the desks to a position near the other desk, but where they do not snap.

Follow the instructions below:

  1. Disconnect the desk you want to move from the other, by clicking on its triangular yellow snap point.

  2. Press and hold the Shift key, click on the desk you want to move whilst holding down the mouse button and dragging it to the desired position.

  3. Release the mouse button.

Note: If you want a component to snap to another component, after you have positioned it with snapping deactivated, click on the component and move it towards the component to which you want it to snap.

Deactivating Individual Snap Points

You can deactivate the yellow snap points one by one, without deactivating the entire component. For example, if you want to use a deactivated component without having to hold down the Shift key, then you should use this function.

Example:

  1. Position two desks next to one another on the drawing area, without them snapping.

  2. Deactivate one of the desks by clicking on all of its yellow snap points. The snap points turn gray, which means that they are deactivated.

  3. After you have deactivated the snap points on all the desk sides, you can work with the desk without it snapping to the other.

Note:

  • You must deactivate the snap points on all sides of the desk. If you only deactivate the snap points on the short sides, the desk will still snap to the long side of the second desk.

  • It is only the component on which you have deactivated the snap points that will not snap. This means that if one of the two desks is deactivated as described above, and the other is not, only the desk which is deactivated will not snap. If you click on the activated desk and move it towards the deactivated desk, the activated desk will snap to the deactivated one.
