Showing/Hiding OpenGL Preview

At the bottom of the Material/Color Change dialog, you will find the Show OpenGL preview button. Click on it and a new window will open on the right side of the dialog, showing the object you have selected in the drawing area.

If you change the material of, for example, a working table in the program you will see the change previewed directly in 3D, provided you have chosen to show the OpenGL preview. To hide the OpenGL preview, click the Hide OpenGL Preview button.

To use the OpenGL preview, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on a component. A pop-up menu is shown.

  2. In the pop-up menu, select Material/Color. The Material/Color Change dialog appears.

  3. Click the Show OpenGL preview button. The dialog expands to show a new window, where you can see a 3D view of the component you have selected in the drawing area.

  4. Select a Surface Name.

  5. Change the original color by selecting a new one from the Predefined or RGB Color drop-down list. The change will now be reflected by the component in the OpenGL preview window.

  6. To rotate the object in the OpenGL preview window, and thereby be able to view it from different angles, use the four arrow buttons placed directly above the window. You can also rotate the object by placing the mouse pointer on the 3D image in the preview window and then clicking and holding the left mouse button and dragging the mouse in the desired direction.

  7. To zoom in and out in the preview window – i.e. enlarge or reduce the object - use the two buttons with magnifying glasses located at the top right of the window. You can also place the mouse pointer on the 3D image, click and hold the right mouse button and move the mouse up or down.

  8. When you are satisfied with your choice of material and/or color, click OK or Apply  to confirm the change.

Note:

  • The OpenGL preview window can only show one object at a time. The object shown is always the most recently selected component in the drawing area.
