Default Material/Color

It is possible to set a new default color for the majority of the program's generic components, such as the accessories in the tree-view on the Accessories tab, the house components and the line drawing components. The default color changes are then saved permanently, by using the feature Default Material/Color from the Edit menu.

When setting a new default color, all components on the drawing area are modified according to the new default color. However, there is one exception to this rule: components that have a manually set color or material applied to them keep this color.

A drawing which contains objects with manually set default colors will keep these settings when imported on other computers. Other objects will have the default color that has been locally defined on the importing computer.

Setting a new default color

To change a component's default color, proceed as follows:

  1. Select the desired component and place it in the drawing area.

  2. Right-click  the desired component and select Material/Color from the pop-up menu. The Material/Color Change dialog box is displayed.

  3. Select the desired color and confirm by clicking the button OK.

  4. Go to the Edit menu and select the Default Material/Color option.

  5. Click the Set button.

  6. A dialog is shown where you are asked if you would like to set the default color on the selected component. Select Continue. A new message appears, saying that the new color has been applied. Select Continue once again.

  7. When placing the component in the drawing area again, the new default color has been applied.

Note:

  • The Set option in the Default Material/Color dialog is only an active option if a generic component is activated in the drawing area.

  • If you would like to set a new default color for several objects at the same time, the following is recommended:

    1. In the drawing area, place all the components that you would like to change.

    2. Right-click on one component at a time, change to the desired color and confirm with OK.

    3. Use the program's Select Rectangle to select all components in the drawing area in one step.

    4. Go to the Edit menu and select Default Material/Color.

Resetting the default color

To reset a component's default color, proceed as follows:

  1. Select the desired component and place it in the drawing area.

  2. Go to the Edit menu and select the Default Material/Color option.

  3. Click the Reset button.

  4. A message asking you to confirm that you are resetting the default color change is shown. Select Continue. A new message appears, saying that the default color has been applied and that you need to restart the program. Select Continue once again.

  5. When placing the component in the drawing area again, the default color has been reapplied.

Note:

  • If you would like to reset the default color for all similar components at the same time, the following is recommended:

    1. Go to the Edit menu and select Default Material/Color.

    2. Under Reset, check the All box and finally click the Reset button.

  • After you have changed the color of an object and selected Reset, the program needs to be restarted in order for the change to take effect.
